At a Glance
Shemar Moore joined the cast of "The Young and the Restless" in 1994 in the
role of Malcolm Winters, a charismatic bad boy turned photographer.
Shemar has come a long way from his days as a struggling model in
California. Since his debut on Y&R he has appeared on Moesha, The Nanny,
Chicago Hope, Arliss and starred in his own HBO film Never too Big.
Five years ago, Shemar's big break came when he was discovered by Hollywood
executives who offered him the role of 'Malcolm Winters'. Shemar immediately
shelled out $1100 to pay for an acting coach and after beating out six other
hopefuls he landed the role.
Shemar was born in Oakland, California but spent the first few years of his
life in Denmark, Bahrain, Germany, the Virgin Islands and Africa. Shemar
attended Santa Clara University, where he majored in communications and
played varsity baseball.
During his spare time, Shemar enjoys boxing, baking, and sports.
