The Young and the Restless will move into its 35th year later this month with an impressive accomplishment: nearly 20 years atop the Nielsen ratings. The show plans to celebrate its milestones on-screen.

The Young and the Restless has racked up another amazing accomplishment, adding to its already impressive list of credentials. While most daytime viewers know that the long-running soap has been ranked as the top-rated soap on television, last month the CBS soap marked a major milestone.

It was December 1988 when The Young and the Restless first moved into first place in the Nielsen ratings. It's been there ever since. For the week ending February 29th, 2008 the show tallied its 1,000th week atop the chart.

The Young and the Restless will also mark another milestone this month. On March 26th the show will celebrate its 35th anniversary. As part of the show's celebration, several familiar faces from the past will return - as well as some characters from sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful.
