With the announcement of Passions' cancellation last week still looming large, Australian soap fans are about to get their own dose of bad news. The top-rated American soap, The Young and the Restless, is about to end its 30-plus-year run on Australian television.

Davidson goes from Restless to Beautiful
For most people, being fired from a job brings with it a whole host of lifestyle changes. That will not be the case for one daytime star. Despite being fired from The Young and the Restless late last year, Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) will still be reporting to CBS's Los Angeles studios and she will still find herself being called "Ashley" on a daily basis.

Nine-time Daytime Emmy nominee Heather Tom will join the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful next month. Tom, known for roles on The Young and the Restless and One Life to Live, has already started taping at B&B. The actress earned Emmy wins in 1993 and 1997.

As Days of our Lives struggles to find its footing, the NBC soap announced today that it has made some behind-the-scenes changes. The show has appointed a new co-executive producer and tapped a new casting director and both newcomers -- Edward J. Scott and Marnie Saitta, respectively - most recently served on the top-rated CBS soap The Young and the Restless.
