It's No Deception: Ramirez Joins Y&R's Jabot

Former General Hospital star Marisa Ramirez (ex-Gia Campbell) has joined the cast of CBS' The Young and the Restless. The actress has already taped her first scenes and will start airing next month.

Last month, The Young and the Restless put out a casting call for the role of "Carmen," a businesswoman whose storyline would be tied to Jack Abbott. Now, a few weeks later, Carmen has a last name - and her job title has become a little more clear.

Ramirez will play Carmen Mesta, a public relations director for Jabot. In a way, the role takes Ramirez full circle: her character on General Hospital was at one time a model for Deception, a cosmetics company.

In addition to her work on General Hospital, Ramirez appeared on the short-lived but critically acclaimed primetime series, Miracles.

During her run on General Hospital, Ramirez earned an ALMA nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series and also an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series.

Ramirez taped her first scenes on April 4th. Those scenes will hit the airwaves on May 8th.
