January 2006 Gering Ready to Report Back to Work As previously reported by soapcentral.com back in April 2005, Gering was thisclose to leaving Passions, a show he has called home since the series' debut back in July 1999. And this wasn't the first time that contract talks with the heartthrob went down to the wire.

January 2006 Newcomer Cast as Passions' Miguel As previously reported by soapcentral.com, Passions has announced that it has finally cast an actor in the role of Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald. Though the show confirmed that the role had been recast back in December 2005, it was not until recently that a Passions spokesperson revealed the name of the actor that had landed the part.

March 2006 Passions Launches Web Site "Vendetta" NBC found so much success with its online teaser "Passions Red," that the network has decided to go to the well once again. Beginning March 14th, NBC will launch "Passions Vendetta." Like the previous online campaign, "Passions Vendetta" will introduce a new character that will have a profound impact on the lives of other characters on the canvas.

May 2006 Passions Renewed, Budget Slashed Ending speculation about the soap's future, NBC has announced that Passions has been renewed for another season. The show will now air through at least July of 2007.

June 2006 Budget Woes Result in Passions Cutbacks As reported last month by soapcentral.com, there's good news for Passions fans: the show has been renewed for another year. However, with reward comes a bit of sacrifice. In order to remain on the show, the bottom-ranked NBC soap has had to undergo some serious budget cuts.

June 2006 McCarty Exits Passions Ahead of Schedule Kelli McCarty (Beth Wallace) will once again be leaving Passions. However, it is unclear if the actress' exit is something that had been planned or if it is a result of the show's budget crunch.

August 2006 Passions Episodes Available For Download Starting this week, NBC's Passions goes where no other daytime drama has gone before: it is the first soap to be available for viewing on iTunes.

September 2006 Steinmetz, Burkhardt Out The Passions cast will soon shrink by several members as the show phases out some of its characters and drops some of its contract players to recurring status. The move may come as a response to a mandate issued to the NBC soap that it dramatically pare its budget.

November 2006 NBC's announcement last month that Kristina Sisco would be joining the cast of Passions was made with much fanfare - but also with a great deal of mystery. The network declined to announce the name of the character that Sisco would be portraying. Fans now know the reason for NBC's silence: the two-time Emmy nominee was set to assume the role of Charity Standish.
