Brief Character History
Jake arrived in town as a fugitive looking to clear his name. Michael Grande had that proof, but wouldn't use it unless Jake spied on Megan Gordon for him. Megan became aware of Jake's spying. Jake then passed himself off as a reporter working for a soap opera magazine. Jake and Megan began a friendship. Michael Grande was murdered and Jake and Megan were the main suspects. But when Megan goes on trial, Jake finds the real killer (Megan's father, Roger Gordon) and frees Megan. With
Megan free, their friendship blossoms into love.
Megan's sister Sarah is kidnapped by the new crime boss, Carlo Hesser. Jake pretends to be interested in Carlo's daughter, Charlotte, to get information. Carlo sees through Jake's attempt and threatens to harm Megan and Andy if Jake doesn't marry Charlotte. Jake marries Charlotte and then when he tries to divorce her, she fakes blindness. Jake soon realizes he's being fooled and leaves Charlotte for good and wins back Megan. Love prevails and Jake and Megan are married by the Reverend Andrew Carpenter.
After the wedding, Jake suddenly becomes obsessed with providing for Megan and he takes a job as an arms trader. He has to travel, but swears he won't be gone for long and will not be in any danger. On one trip Jake is taken prisoner by General Gaza in Jaba and is reported missing. He is rescued by Andrew Carpenter, who tells him that his wife is deathly ill. Andrew and Jake escape the prison, kill the General and rush home to Megan's side. Jake takes his wife in his arms and shows her the tree he planted and decorated for her outside the window, the same tree they planted at the church on their wedding day. He holds her close as her life slips away and she dies in his arms. Devastated by his wife's death, Jake left for California.
