Don Jeffcoat out as contract not extended

With the advent of the Internet, it's easier than ever for rumors and gossip to make the rounds. However, despite its flaws, the ‘net is also a great source for reliable information.
Rumors started whirling about in July that TPTB (The Powers That Be, Internet short-hand for the executives that do the hiring and firing) at One Life to Live had not yet entered into contract renewal negotiations with
Don Jeffcoat (
Joey Buchanan). Immediately there was speculation that Jeffcoat was on the way out, though neither ABC nor Jeffcoat's camp had offered any official word.
This past week, however, Jeffcoat's official online fan club confirmed that Jeffcoat has not been offered a new contract by the show. Jeffcoat's contract isn't officially up until sometime in October, but it was requested that he stick around in Llanview until November 24th to finish his storyline. If the timeline holds true, Jeffcoat's final appearance would be around December 15th.
ABC has a policy of not discussing a performer's contract status, so the network had no response to the fan club's reports.
