Finola Hughes to take pause from GH

Anna Devane will soon be leaving Port Charles. But for how long?

General Hospital will soon be one phenomenal actress short, as Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) will temporarily be leaving the show.

According to Soap Opera Digest, the London native will be exiting the canvas for three months this summer in order to direct the romantic comedy film The Byrd and the Bees.

The film stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors, Dracula) and follows a struggling author who, on an impromptu trip to Scotland, finally experiences the kind of romance she's always tried to write about.

Says GH head writer Ron Carlivati about Hughes impending exit, "You get to see some of what becomes of Anna after Duke [Ian Buchanan] dies, and we're forced to hit the pause button a little bit with Anna Devane. But she will be back, rest assured."

This is the second major film Hughes has directed. In 2013, she made her directorial debut with The Bet.

How do you feel about Hughes taking a GH break to direct her new film? What do you think will take Anna off the canvas? We want to hear from you -- so drop your comments in the Comments section below, tweet about it on Twitter, share it on Facebook, or chat about it on our Message Boards.
