Haley Pullos on the Emmy news that turned her into a temporary crybaby

Tears of sadness may have led to Haley Pullos receiving her first ever Daytime Emmy nomination, but it was tears of joy that followed.

Anyone who's watched General Hospital's Haley Pullos (Molly Lansing-Davis) over the past year knows that the actress has been working hard to produce one emotional scene after another. So it's no surprise that she managed to land on the list of Daytime Emmy nominees in the Younger Actress category. And guess what? Not only did Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing) help her snag the coveted nomination, Soap Central did, as well! How? Read on to find out.

soapcentral.com: Congratulations! How did you find out you'd been nominated?

Haley Pullos: Oh my gosh, okay, so I was in a nail salon, and my phone died, and I was so mad, because I knew I was not going to have any way to actually find out, so once they finished my nails, I got back to my car, and I plugged my phone in, and as soon as it turned on, I had like 20 text messages, and they all said, "Congrats! You've been nominated!" And my parents sent me articles, and it was so overwhelming, so I sat in my car and cried for a few minutes.

soapcentral.com: Aw, that's so sweet! Did you know that the nominations were coming out?

Haley Pullos: Oh, yes. My dad has been counting down the days.

soapcentral.com: Who did you call after you were able to calm down?

Haley Pullos: I called the house phone, and I wasn't sure if my mom or my dad would answer, but my mom answered, and I told her that I was crying, and that's basically all I said. [laughs]

soapcentral.com: That's funny. Did she say anything back?

Haley Pullos: She said, "I'm so proud of you. I love you, come home so we can celebrate." And she told me to drive carefully, because I was obviously very shaky!

soapcentral.com: What scenes did you submit?

Haley Pullos: I submitted the scenes where I was in the police station, when I had just found out that Ric [Rick Hearst] was fake shot, and I was crying about that.

soapcentral.com: Did you know right away that those would be the scenes you would choose, or did you deliberate for a while on what to submit?

Haley Pullos: No, actually. My parents and I narrowed it down to three different episodes, and we just had the hardest time figuring out which one would be the final decision, so we asked everybody. We asked my manager, my agent, we asked friends, and we asked Rick Hearst. And we also asked Dan [Kroll] from Soap Central! He also said that scene.

soapcentral.com: Oh, good! I'm glad Soap Central helped you get nominated, haha. Was that the scene that you also felt in your heart was the right one, or did you go by everyone else's opinions?

Haley Pullos: You know what, it wasn't. I wanted to go with a different episode, but everyone kept saying that this one was the better choice, and after awhile of just watching and re-watching both of the episodes, I finally decided that everybody else was right. It was the right decision.

soapcentral.com: What was the other episode?

Haley Pullos: It was when I was reading the letter from my dad [Ric] after he had already died. I was getting his effects.

soapcentral.com: Well they were both good scenes, and since everyone told you to go with the other one, a hundred people couldn't be wrong, right?

Haley Pullos: Exactly! That's what I kept telling myself.

soapcentral.com: GH really led the pack with the most nominations out of all of the shows. Anyone you're super proud of?

Haley Pullos: Tequan [Richmond, T.J. Ashford]! I am so unbelievably proud of him. I'm so glad he was nominated. I'm so happy for him.

soapcentral.com: Is there anyone you think should have made the list but didn't?

Haley Pullos: Oh, goodness, you know what, I always have to go with Nancy [Lee Grahn, Alexis Davis].

soapcentral.com: Who do you think you'll bring along to the ceremony?

Haley Pullos: I think I'll probably bring my mother.

soapcentral.com: Are you excited about the event being televised this year?

Haley Pullos: I'm really excited that it's going to be televised again. I really think it should be televised. The fans really want to see the ceremony, so that was a good decision.

soapcentral.com: Have you thought about a dress yet?

Haley Pullos: I have a dress already, actually. I've had it since the Emmys last year. We decided it was too fancy, since I wasn't nominated. And we said I'd definitely wear it this year, if I was nominated, so everything just worked out perfectly!
