McCullough lands directing workshop, won't be leaving GH

Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio) has taken to Twitter to deny claims that she is exiting the show. The rumors of her impending exit surfaced when the Emmy-winning actress revealed that she was the recipient of a special honor.


"[I've] been accepted into the AFI Directing Workshop for Women 2010," McCullough announced. "I'm overflowing with happiness."


The American Film Institute's three-week Workshop focuses on the development and production of a short narrative project. Participants enter the program with a short screenplay, which they develop within the Workshop. A revised draft of the script is required at the end of the three weeks. More than 200 women have been given the opportunity to participate in the unique training program for tomorrow's directors.


McCullough's announcement, however, prompted some to speculate she'd be leaving her role on General Hospital. The actress was quick to assure fans that she is not leaving Port Charles any time soon.


"I am not leaving the show," McCullough tweeted. "I will be tackling both at the same time."


McCullough joined the cast of General Hospital in 1985 at the age of seven. She left the show in 1999, but returned full-time in 2005. During her run on the ABC soap, she's won two Daytime Emmys.
