Hearst Signs New Contract

by Dan J Kroll

Rick Hearst has signed a new contract with GH. Is that good news?
Of course, he's an Emmy winner! I am very glad that he's sticking around.   51%
Nothing against Hearst, but I am not really a fan of the character of Ric.   24%
I like Hearst, but I'd like to see better story for his character.   19%
The news of Hearst re-signing doesn't really matter much to me.   5%
Secretly, I'd like to see Hearst join one of the other soaps that I watch.   0%

There's good new for fans of Emmy winner Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing). The actor has just signed a new contract with the show.

"I've signed on for three more years," Hearst announced. "I want to see this character continue to evolve. I love this show and I have high hopes for what's ahead for this character."

General Hospital is Hearst's latest stop in his impressive career in daytime television. The actor made his soap debut in 1989 as Scotty Banning on NBC's Days of our Lives. In 1990, Hearst changed networks and began an award-winning six-year stint on CBS's Guiding Light. As Alan-Michael Spaulding on Guiding Light, Hearst earned three Daytime Emmy nominations, winning the Outstanding Young Man (now called Outstanding Younger Actor) trophy in 1991. The actor then tackled the role of the evil Matt Clark on top-rated The Young and the Restless from 2000 to 2001, followed by a short stint as Whip Jones on The Bold and the Beautiful in 2002.

Hearst made his debut on General Hospital in 1992. Two years later he was named Outstanding Supporting Actor at the Daytime Emmys and he picked up another nomination in the same category this past year.

Hearst also appears in the direct-to-video release of "Carpool Guy," which is available for purchase now.
