According to internet chatter, Marisa Ramirez (Gia Campbell) will be exiting General Hospital when her contract expires -- or possibly sooner.
Ramirez has landed a part in a new ABC primetime series called Miracles. The show is just entering production and is planned as a mid-season replacement program for the network.
Miracles will also feature Hector Elizondo, of Chicago Hope and various feature films, and Skeet Ulrich of Scream fame.
Ramirez is currently pulling double-duty, running from the GH set to the Miracles set. Her publicist says that the actress will continue to work that hectic schedule for the immediate future. Sources behind-the-scenes at GH, however, say that Ramirez will only appear on-screen through October. A recast is unlikely and Gia will be written out of the show. However, the door will be left open for Ramirez to return in the future.
A spokesperson for General Hospital declined to comment for this article.
