Martinez will leave GH in October

The Internet rumblings that A Martinez (Roy DiLucca) will be exiting General Hospital when his contact expires in September are apparently true. The actor has announced plans to leave daytime... eventually.


Martinez, who joined the cast of General Hospital in 1999, has landed a role on the Lifetime series For The People. The series will also star Daytime Emmy winner Debbi Morgan (ex-Angie Hubbard, All My Children).


For the newly installed writing team of General Hospital, Martinez's plan to exit the show presents a bit of a problem. The writers have just started to work Martinez's character into a front burner story.


For his part, however, Martinez insists that he will not simply vanish upon the expiration of his contract. The actor said that he would like to stay aboard until the writers are able to resolve his current storylines.


Martinez makes his final on-air appearance on October 10.
