Brief Character History

Vivian arrived in Salem in 1992 by throwing a masquerade ball, recreating a similar event from eight years earlier when a master thief named Romulas had stolen a case of jewelry. When John Black was arrested for being Romulas a safe deposit box was opened and Vivian recognized a locket as the one that was stolen from her. Vivian then convinced her nephew Lawrence to open the casket of his brother, Forrest, who died as a child. When the coffin was opened they discovered it was only filled with sand. Soon after it was verified through DNA tests that John Black was really Forrest Alamain. Vivian vowed revenge against her newly reunited nephew when he claimed his inheritance that she had taken.

Vivian’s adopted son Nikki arrived in Salem. A lawyer by the name of Lisanne Gardner knew who Nikki's real parents were and attempted to blackmail Vivian. During a confrontation Nikki pushed Lisanne and she hit her head on a stone cat and was killed. In order for Nikki not to realize what he had done, Vivian and Lawrence hid Lisanne's body in a car and Vivian's manservant Ivan staged a car crash in which the body was cremated. Vivian suffered a heart attack when Lawrence turned on her. Lawrence was piecing together the truth also about Nikki's parentage so Vivian kidnapped Nikki. Lawrence ran to get Carly so they could find Nikki who turned out to be their son.

After Nikki learned the truth about who his parents were Vivian became determined to kill Carly in order to keep the boy. Soon it was discovered that Vivian had a fatal heart disease so Vivian decided to frame Carly for her murder. At Shawn-Douglas's birthday party, Vivian goaded Carly into an argument on the terrace. Vivian fell and Carly saved her life in surgery. Afterwards Vivian disguised herself as a nurse and began killing Dr. Manning's patients with cleaning fluid. Going more insane everyday, Vivian started taking herbs that she thought would heal her heart condition, while she was framing Carly for the murder of her patients. When Carly caught Vivian about to give Caroline Brady a lethal injection, they struggled and Carly got the heavy dose of morphine instead. Once Carly was unconscious, Vivian took the opportunity to drug Carly with herbs that induced deathlike paralysis, and Carly was pronounced dead. Vivian was not satisfied. She knew Carly was still alive, so Vivian situated the casket Carly was buried in with a walkie talkie. Vivian taunted Carly once she awoke and begged for release. However when Vivian’s head cleared, she confessed her mayhem to Lawrence who dug up Carly just in time. She also confessed to the murders of Carly's patients and she was institutionalized.

Vivian’s next project concerned Kate and her mysterious trips to see Laura Horton. Kate discovered Vivian sneaking out of the asylum and notified the hospital. A lobotomy was scheduled to subdue Vivian. As surgery was about to begin, a fire broke out and Vivian's ever faithful servant Ivan rescued her and Laura. While hiding out and recuperating, Laura told Vivian the link between Curtis Reed and Kate. Vivian could now win Victor Kirakis from Kate.

After some time, Vivian stole Kate and Victor's embryo and had herself artificially inseminated with it. In a wedding rehearsal for Kate and Victor (which Kate wasn't able to attend) Vivian tricked Victor into marrying her, although he wasn't aware of the fact. Kate figured out what Vivian was up to and confronted her. Vivian of course denied it and when Kate said she was flying down to see victor and tell him what she knew about Vivian, Vivian drugged Kate's coffee. Inadvertently, the pilot drank the coffee and the plane crashed but Kate's body was never found.

A year later though, just as Victor and Vivian were about to make love, Kate returned and told Victor everything. That's when Vivian let in on the fact that she was really Victor's wife. She also told Victor that if he divorced her she would file for custody of the child she gave birth to for him, his and Kate's son Philip. The stress of the situation caused Victor to have a stroke where he went into a catatonic state. Kate tried to have Vivian thrown out of the Titian Publishing office but Vivian was able to blackmail Kristen into voting for her to stay.

She's been helping Kristen keep control of her schemes, but is doing it against her will. She's afraid of Stefano’s wrath. But Stefano has insured that Vivian will continue to help him as long as he needs her too.

Vivian is pursuing Stefano's shares which equals 49% of Titan. She wants to bring Kate Kiriakis down for stealing her man and her house. Vivian married Jonesy because she had lost her wealth because of her affiliation with Kristen. Penniless, she found an erratic old man Jonesy who seemed like a poor bum, where in fact he was made of art treasures and millions. These millions were actually Stefano's, but put into Jonesy's name to keep his name out of it. Most of the art was stolen.

Stefano had Super-Doc Rolf implant a mood altering device in her tooth so she would seem insane. Then he married her to inherit the money Jonesy left her, which was his to begin with anyway. Stefano controlled Vivian's mood to his advantage since late June 98. Vivian felt like she was dying. She had her Chinese herbal physician, Dr. Wu, look at her. He discovered the implant, and now Vivian is royally mad. She is seeking her revenge by trying to take his 49% of Titan. Luckily for her, her great-nephew (and former adopted child) Nicholas returned to town to help her get revenge on Stefano.

Vivian uncovered a problem Victor Kiriakis' health care. She spent the several weeks in Asia trying to find an alternative medicine that could "cure" Victor and bring him back to her. Victor learned of her plans and said that he was willing to follow her plans for alternative therapy.
