Brief Character History
Eric and his elitist wife, Stephanie created Forrester Creations, a major fashion house. They raised four beautiful children, Ridge, Thorne, Kristen and Felicia. After getting tired of his old, overweight wife , he had an affair with Brooke Logan who was pining away for his son, Ridge. They had a child, Rick. Brooke and Eric married. Brooke eventually left Eric for Ridge and had another child. When Brooke became pregnant again, the child was thought to be fathered by Ridge. Brooke left Eric because she wanted to be with Ridge, and due to Stephanie, Ridge and Eric's manipulation Brooke in turn took controlling interest of Forrester Creations with a 51% majority from the family retaliation. On the rebound, Eric married Sheila Carter, who had been a nanny in his home and worked for the company as a nurse. Sheila knew Eric was not happy with her anymore (Stephanie's influence) so she told him she was pregnant. She slept with Connor Davis trying to pass any baby she concieved as Eric's. However, after the birth of Brooke's children, unbeknownst to Sheila, Eric made sure, through surgery, that he could never conceive again
After Taylor came back from the dead, the two had a brief affair. Taylor ended it when she realized that Stephanie was still in love with him. She is very close to Stephanie and did not want to stand in the way of them getting back together Lauren Fenmore, (who is the daughter of a very good friend of Eric's) helped him to get over his infatuation with Taylor and he soon fell in love with her. Lauren, also a pal of Stephanie's, backed off when she realized how much Stephanie wanted Eric back. Lauren is still very much in love with Eric. Eric finally, finally proposes to Stephanie. She, of course, accepts his proposal. While all this was going on, Brooke turns the controlling interest over to her current husband, Grant Chambers. Grant has it out for the Forrester family for treating him like a second rate designer. Now, Eric is hapily remarried to Stephanie, and his main concern is over the relationship between Thorne and Brooke. However, this seems to be over for the time being. Eric is also occupied with his son Rick's battle for paternity over Little Eric, Becky's son.
Stephanie and Eric's marriage suffered when Eric decided not to back Ridge's takeover of Forrester Creations. Stephanie moved out of the home they shared. She then started seeing her old college boyfriend, Massimo Marone. On her way out of town to escape the law, Sheila stopped by to beg Eric to be kind to Mary. When he was less than positive in his opinion of Sheila, she became angry and pulled her gun on him. Taylor and Brooke walked in on the incident, and after a scuffle, Brooke and Taylor were shot. Taylor later died of her injury. Stephanie and Massimo's relationship fizzled, and Stephanie and Eric starting flirting once again. Eric was devastated to learn that Ridge was not his son after all but really Massimo's, but after a short adjustment period, he and Ridge were able to maintain the same close relationship they always had. Eric's marriage to Stephanie was eventually repaired as well.
Eric and Stephanie continued to have trouble in their marriage from time to time, mainly her hatred of Brooke. Like everyone else, Eric was thrilled when Taylor returned from the dead, even though he felt bad for Brooke. After learning that Stephanie faked a heart attack to try to get Ridge and Taylor to stake their claims on each other, a disgusted Eric contacted Jonathan, who had Stephanie's power of attorney, and arranged a speedy divorce. He then married Brooke before the ink was even dry on the divorce papers, partly a way to relieve Bridget's mind that Brooke and Nick would end up together. This move devastated Jackie, who was beginning to plan a future with Eric. Brooke and Eric quickly divorced, and Eric begged Jackie for forgiveness, which she was willing to give him because she had fallen in love with him.
The biggest battle of Eric's life came, however, when Stephanie discovered papers in his office proving that she was the true owner of Forrester Creations. She fired both him and Brooke, and installed Thorne as the president of the company. She later rehired the duo, but relegated them to a basement office. Stephanie and Eric were barely able to be civil with each other, but things began to change after Felicia came home and the two learned just how close she was to death. They were able to put aside their differences long enough to act civil around Felicia, and when she asked them to remarry as her dying wish they agreed. After promising Jackie that he and Stephanie would annul the marriage as soon as Felicia died and asking him to wait, Eric and Stephanie married in a beautiful ceremony with all their children (even Kristen) in attendance.
