Brief Character History
In an eleventh hour move to stop Amber and CJ's wedding in October 2000, Rick tracked down the biological father of "little Eric" in order for him to sign over parental rights to he and Amber. Deacon had a hard childhood finding it hard to trust people constantly on guard with a fierce bravado. Rick offered Deacon $100,000 for full custody rights to Eric Junior III who obliged having no emotional concern for the child. When Jonathan, the Forrester family lawyer failed to draw up the papers in time, Rick interrupted CJ and Amber's nuptials by announcing Deacon as Eric Junior's biological father. As Deacon faltered, Jonathan initiated a plan for the Forresters to force Deacon into the deal. Discovering a bug and recording device, Deacon exploded into a rage leaving the Forrester mansion with the signed custody papers fuelling his vengeance toward the Forrester family. The Spectras and Forresters start a bidding war for Little Eric. Using Little Eric as leverage, Deacon takes the child to live with he and Carmen at his apartment situated above his club. Deacon's attraction for Amber soon develops into much deeper feelings of affection. Carmen becomes suspicious of Deacon's motives of not accepting the $1million offer and Amber's constant visits. Carmen's jealousy intensifies one night when she takes baby Eric to the rooftop of Deacon's building. Amber confronts Carmen who hesitantly returns Eric to Deacon. The confrontation ensues in a stuggle resulting in Carmen accidentally falling to her death.
A visit from Darryl, Deacon's father, leaves him unconscious and battered. Deacon vows to be a better father then Daryl ever was as he continues to develop a fatherly fondness for Little Eric. A legal arrangement outside of the Forrester family influence sees Amber agree to a four month live-in arrangement with Deacon and Little Eric upon which time he will relinquish all parental rights and let her go if she still wants to. Brooke's interference and convincing photographs of Rick and Amanda kissing at their interstate tennis match drove Amber into the confiding arms of Deacon. A friendly kiss between the two was interpreted by Rick as a reason to end the engagement. Deacon then organized a surprise getaway for the now devastated Amber by taking her to Las Vegas. There the two bonded as they learned more about each other. An encounter with Daryl leads to a breakthrough for Deacon overcoming past demons there since childhood. Stephanie informs Rick of Brooke's manipulation and searches for Amber. Rick and Amber soon reunite and plan to marry as soon as possible. Amber asks Deacon to sign papers releasing her from the four month agreement but instead allowing visitation to Little Eric. He signs.
Eric, Stephanie, Brooke and Thorne visit Deacon at his lair. Deacon is furious when Eric boasts about not having to pay the agreed $1million set in the original documents. Deacon orders them out of his apartment and promises them that they will all pay for this abuse. Previous chance meetings at Deacon's club, at Mannequins and Café Russe saw a friendship develop between Bridget and Deacon. Both unaware of who the other was until Bridget left Deacon her number revealing to him as a Forrester. Deacon comes clean and tells her his name. Bridget is stunned when she realizes who he is! Deacon manipulates Bridget into thinking he now cares for her. Before reluctantly moving ahead with his plan to use Bridget, Deacon tries to get Rick, Brooke and Amber to stop the wedding. Amber and Rick's wedding day arrives. As the ceremony begins and the two are about to exchange vows, Eric stands up and asks the minister to stop as he approaches Deacon and demands he leave immediately. Eric and Brooke are mortified when Bridget announces that Deacon is her date!
The guests are asked to leave. Deacon and Amber go to the den to talk while the rest of the Forresters try to make Bridget see Deacon's true intentions. When Rick, Eric and Brooke enter the den, Deacon forces them to choose between Amber and Bridget stating he WILL be leaving with one of them. Eric, Ridge and Thorne beat Deacon before throwing him out of Stephanie's mansion, Bridget goes running after him. In the car, Deacon proposes. The two of them drive to Las Vegas and get married. The Forresters are shocked and appalled when they learn of Bridget's marriage and resolve the situation temporarily by letting the newlyweds stay at Taylor's Beach house without any family interference. When Eric, Brooke and Rick call Deacon on the speaker phone demanding Bridget be sent home, Deacon retaliates by leaving the phone off the hook as they listen in horror to Deacon making love to Bridget! The following day, Deacon exits Insomnia and is caught off guard by a hit and run assailant, knocking him down. At the hospital, Bridget's faith in Deacon is strengthened even more when he chooses not to press charges against the driver who hit him - Eric!
Deacon shows guilt for his actions in relation to Bridget but justifies his despicable behavior for what he intends to gain - Amber and "Little D" Bridget is devastated when she overhears Deacon admit to Amber that their marriage is a farce, that she was being used to get at her family and that everything she believed was a lie. A confrontation ensues after Amber leaves. A humiliated Bridget drives off. A guilt-stricken Deacon follows behind her in his car. Bridget slams her foot on the accelerator when she sees Deacon in her rear view mirror. Deacon helplessly watches Bridget lose control of her car swerving off the road. An unconscious Bridget recovers from surgery as Deacon awaits the arrival of The Forresters and he comes to a realization - he HAS feelings for Bridget. Deacon admits he didn't realize how important Bridget was to him until the accident occurred and wanted to make their marriage a real one.
Despite hesitation and pressure from the family, Bridget decided to give their marriage a second chance. After Brooke insists that Amber and Deacon discuss their feelings with one another, the two of them agree to part ways and make their respective marriages work. Little Eric breaks into a fever bringing Amber and Deacon together. They share a passionate kiss which both can't stop thinking about after Eric's condition breaks. When Amber learns she is pregnant with Rick's baby, Deacon confesses how much he loves her and leaves as she commits herself to her marriage. That night, Deacon goes home and tells Bridget not to worry about her birth control, he then fantasizes making love to Amber. Brooke begs Deacon to divorce Bridget. After some faltering, Deacon begins to feel that he is holding Bridget back and agrees to Brooke's plight. As they discuss stupid things they have done in the name of love, explosive chemistry is unleashed between the two after Brooke invites Deacon into her home for a drink. The two of them share one night of forbidden love.
At Big Bear, Deacon asks Bridget for a divorce. He confesses to her that he slept with another one - not Amber, but he still loves her. Bridget stands by her man and sees his sincerity giving him another chance. At Tony and Kristen's wedding, Brooke suddenly feels ill. A pregnancy test later confirms her suspicions. Upon learning she was pregnant, Brooke took off to a spa to sort things out and Deacon stayed in LA with his wife, not telling anyone the truth. Deacon then help Rick save Brooke's company from being taken over by Ridge. Brooke rewarded Deacon with the job of Head of Promotions at Forrester. After Brooke's pregnancy came out, Whip Jones, the man who should have had Deacon's promotion, claimed to the father, and started blackmailing Brooke. Deacon became furious when Whip started liking Brooke and tried numerous times to seduce her away from him. Deacon continued his affair with Brooke off-and-on for months. Ultimately, Brooke couldn't take the guilt and moved to Paris with Whip so she would be able to fight her urge to be with Deacon. Deacon went to Paris after a disturbing phone call from Whip and again slept with Brooke. Feeling so horrible about hurting her daughter again, Brooke accepted a proposal from Whip, so her affair with Deacon would end.
Deacon married Macy in 2003, and the two began raising Little Eric, who Deacon had sued for custody of when the Forrester denied him access to either of his children. Macy died in a tragic accident not long thereafter, and Deacon was left to raise his son alone. He tried to get his ex-wife, Bridget, back, but she was committed to Oscar Marone. Not long after, Deacon began a torrid affair with Jackie Marone, and when Massimo had a stroke, Deacon delighted in tormenting Massimo by telling him about the affair with Jackie, even drugging Jackie with Massimo fully aware. Massimo recovered but Jackie stayed with Deacon. Shortly after Heather Engle came to work for Deacon, he started having the same old craving for liquor, not realising that Heather was in cahoots with Massimo to get revenge on Deacon. After realising he couldn't stop the thirst, Deacon left Los Angeles to get his life back together, leaving Jackie behind.
