A lifelong resident of Los Angeles, Dayzee's childhood proved difficult as her mother struggled with a serious drug problem that kept her in and out of rehab. In late 2010, Dayzee first encountered Stephanie Forrester during the latter's spontaneous trip to the Santa Monica Pier. After Stephanie lost her scarf while riding on the pier's roller coaster, Dayzee, who found it nearby, refused to give it back, threatening the Forrester matriarch with a broken bottle as she tried to retrieve it. Later, Stephanie immediately followed Dayzee to Skid Row, and became angered when she once again refused to relinquish her family heirloom. As Stephanie began to show signs of poor health, however, Dayzee became concerned, choosing to tend to her needs rather than to continue their pointless bantering. At the first chance she could find, Stephanie took back her scarf, but was shocked to find an infant hidden underneath. When Stephanie accused Dayzee of kidnapping, Dayzee explained that the child belonged to a friend of hers who was taking part in a drug rehab program.

Once realizing the true strength and courage which Dayzee possessed, Stephanie invited her to come home with her, as her wisdom and compassion ultimately inspired her to seek treatment for her Stage 4 lung cancer. Soon after, Dayzee allowed Stephanie the opportunity to volunteer at a local homeless shelter, and when C.J. Garrison's coffee shop Insomnia went up for sale, Stephanie bought it, handing over the keys to Dayzee and renaming it in her honor. With Stephanie's blessing, Dayzee began planning her big opening, and set her sights on hiring the homeless in order to provide a better life to her friends in need.
