B&B celebrates 7,000 episodes with a special broadcast

CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful will air its 7,000th episode on Friday, January 23 -- and the special day comes with a unique episode twist.

The Bold and the Beautiful will reach quite a monumental landmark when it airs its 7,000th episode on Friday, January 23. And to celebrate the occasion, the special milestone episode will break out of the soap's normal format and will instead be shown in a retrospective documentary style that showcases the series' most iconic moments.

In addition to a different format, the unique episode will also feature commentary from the cast, surprise guest stars, and fashion throughout the show's history, as well as original screen test footage.

The show will also host a live Twitter chat during the January 23 broadcast, featuring Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke), Aaron B. Spears (Justin), Heather Tom (Katie), Sean Kanan (Deacon), Jacob Young (Rick), Karla Mosley (Maya), Rena Sofer (Quinn), Darin Brooks (Wyatt), Ashleigh Brewer (Ivy), and others.

"7,000 episodes of television is an incredible achievement, and one we are tremendously proud of," says Angelica McDaniel, Senior Vice President, Daytime, CBS Entertainment. "This milestone is a testament to the impact of [creators] Bill and Lee Bell on the genre, the passion and creativity of [executive producer and head writer] Brad Bell, his staff and crew and the unwavering support of our loyal fans."

Adds Bell, "7,000 continuous episodes of television and going strong! What a milestone. Much gratitude to our incredibly loyal fans around the world and to Angelica McDaniel and CBS for allowing us our freedom of expression for over 27 years."

In addition to the special episode, CBS Television City will dedicate Studio 31 to Bell today, Wednesday, January 14. Bell, who is an eight-time Daytime Emmy Award winner, has been with the show, which is the most-watched daily dramatic serial in the world, since it was co-created by his parents, William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell, in 1987.
