Maura, who plays the conniving Carly Tenney, grew up the youngest of four children in Springfield, MA. Her siblings include two older brothers, Peter and Andrew, and one sister, Amy. Maura is a graduate of Boston University where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Maura was on ATWT for one year when she decided to vacate the role so she could concentrate on motherhood. Over a year later, she returned to ATWT and continues to be a fan favorite.
Maura is a huge fan of the New York Yankees. In fact, it was at a Yankees game that her fiancé, co-star Scott DeFreitas, proposed marriage. Maura's hobbies include reading and of course spending time with her children, Benjamin Knight (b.6/96) and Joseph Peter DeFreitas (b. 3/29/00) and Katherine Marie DeFreitas (b. 1/9/02)
