Former daytime star Trent Dawson made a name for himself playing As the World Turns' Henry Coleman, and he's about to bring an even more famous Henry to life: the actor has taken on the role of King Henry VIII in the New York City production of A Man for All Seasons.
Written by Robert Bolt, the classic play follows politics during the 1526-1535 reign of real-life English King Henry VIII, who's known for having about as many wives as a typical soap opera character.
The plot of the play is based on the historical events leading up to the execution of Sir Thomas More (played by Michael Countryman), the 16th-century Chancellor of England who refused to endorse King Henry VIII's wish to divorce his wife Catherine of Aragon, who did not bear him a son, so that he could marry Anne Boleyn, the sister of his former mistress.
Showing at the Acorn Theater, A Man for All Seasons is being presented by the Fellowship for the Performing Arts, a program of Building for the Arts NY Inc. For tickets and more information, click here.
