At a Glance
Walt Willey, whose credits include performances in off-Broadway and regional
theater as well as in television, majored in sculpture -- working in concrete
and cast aluminum -- at Southern Illinois University. He is also accomplished
at drawing and painting. Walt began to concentrate on acting in university
plays during his senior year, and after touring with an improvisational
comedy group, he decided to pursue an acting career in New York.
His first professional acting assignment in New York was as an extra on All
My Children. He went on to play Joe Novak on Ryan's Hope, and appeared in
off-Broadway productions. His stage credits include a wide variety of plays,
ranging from "Frankenstein" and "Barefoot in the Park" to "Five Finger
Exercise" and "Cyrano de Bergerac." He is also certified in stage combat.
When not appearing on "All My Children," Walt performs as a stand-up comic
and pursues his interest in art, doing cartoons and his own line of
tee-shirts. He is currently writing a children's book.
In 1993, Walt co-hosted, with Susan Lucci, the 20th Annual Daytime Emmy
Awards presentation.
Walt appeared as himself in comic-book form in "The Second Life
of Dr. Mirage," from Valiant Comics.
For relaxation, the actor enjoys scuba diving and chess. More recently
he has taken up the hobby of stand-up comedy and has toured around the
country performing his stand-up in comedy clubs.
