Ray MacDonnell joined the cast of "All My Children" in 1970, at its
inception, as Dr. Joe Martin. Dr. Joe remains one of Pine Valley's most
upstanding citizens, along with his wife, Ruth. As chief of staff at Pine
Valley Hospital, Dr. Joe's opinion is valued by all.
Ray was born and raised in Lawrence, Mass., and went to nearby Amherst
College. He attended the Royal Academy in London as a Fulbright scholar.
He appeared as the popular character, Philip Capice, on "The Edge of Night"
for nearly eight years. Ray's other television credits include "Studio One"
and "Armstrong Circle Theatre."
Ray starred on Broadway in "Mame," with both Angela Lansbury and Ann Miller,
and in numerous off-Broadway productions.
