Cosgrove first appeared on daytime television in the role of Scott Chandler in ABC's All My Children. He then moved to Los Angeles to play Matt Durning on FOX's Beverly Hills 90210. Since then, he has starred in several major motion pictures including Valentine, The Object of My Affection, and Van Wilder: Party Liaison. Cosgrove has also starred in When the Music Stops, a VH1 original movie, and ABC's Satan's School For Girls. Most recently, Cosgrove has had starring roles on ABC's In Justice and Dirty Sexy Money alongside Donald Sutherland and Peter Krause.

Cosgrove and his wife, Marie, have three daughters, and his birthday is December 16.
