At a Glance

Emmy Award-winning actress Julia Barr joined the cast of All My Children in 1976.

Julia grew up in Indiana, where she worked with the Fort Wayne Community Theater. She attended Purdue University, where she appeared in such productions as Our Town, A Streetcar Named Desire and and Endgame. Barr would later appear in the Off-Broadway production of Kerouac.

On television, Barr found success on the soap Ryan's Hope. She aslo appeared as Norma Childs in I, the Jury.

After joining the cast of All My Children, Barr took a fifteen-month break from 1980 to 1982 to tour with Katherine Hepburn in West Side Waltz. During this break, Barr married Richard Hirschlag.

Barr is a celebrity spokeperson for The Fund for Animals. She's also devoted countless hours to First Step, a job readiness program, with the Coalition for the Homeless in New York City.

She enjoys theater, studies voice and takes cooking classes in her spare time.
