According to network sources, Megan McTavish has inked a deal that will allow her to continue on as head writer of All My Children. Some AMC fans are upset that McTavish will remain in place because of a controversial baby-stealing storyline currently unfolding.

McTavish returned to head writing duties of All My Children in May 2003 following a four-year break during which she worked as top scribe at two of ABC's other soaps, One Life to Live and General Hospital.

McTavish has an extensive history with All My Children, having started off as an associate head writer in 1987, a position she served in for the next five years. She was then elevated to head writer in 1992 and remained in that position through 1995. Following a two-year break from the show, she returned to All My Children in 1997 as head writer. During her two-year reign as the show's head writer, McTavish earned two Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series.

An ABC spokesperson declined to comment on McTavish's contract with the show.
